THE AUTHOR

Lou René is a registered nurse and Certified Case Manager with almost twenty years of experience walking alongside patients and families through some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Her career in post-acute care — spanning home health, hospice, rehabilitation, and case management — has given her a front-row seat to human resilience and to the quiet, sacred work of healing.
As a trained Faith Community Nurse, Lou René brings together clinical expertise and spiritual care, believing that true healing happens when both are honored together. This calling has deepened her lifelong commitment to caring not only for the body, but for the spirit.
Lou René has aspirations to pursue a degree in theology, seeking to further equip herself to help and minister to others through both word and service. She is also a devoted mother and grandmother, and it is in these roles — nurturing, guiding, and loving across generations — that much of her understanding of healing, identity, and belonging was first formed.
Diary of a Yellow Sheep: A Shepherd’s Healing reflects Lou René’s heart for anyone who has ever felt like the outlier, the different one, the “yellow sheep” in the flock. Drawing from her nursing career, her faith journey, and her life as a mother and grandmother, she writes with the conviction that every person’s difference is part of a greater, divine purpose — and that healing is always within reach. She describes herself as an ordinary woman who wants to share the extraordinary Word of God with others.
